In 1937, the club had 25 members, which grew to 40 by 1939. The club continued to organise events up until 1942, when, with so many members ‘called up’ , it was decided to cease activities.
It was not until 1946 that the club was resurrected. It was in 1948 that saw a renewal of interest in Open events and by 1949 the club could boast over 60 members.
In the 1960’s, Barbara Harrison became one of the leading lady cyclists in Britain. The culmination of which was her participation in the 1969 ‘La Ronde Femine Internationale’ (a miniature ladies Tour de France), where she won a stage.
